About Me

When I was seven years old my dad gave me a Kodak Brownie Starflash camera and a roll of film, 126 if I remember right. At that time dad was also very keen on photography developing and printing his own photographs. 8mm Cine films were also one of his interests and at this time we were living in Australia, up Sidney way in a little place called Blacktown. Those Cine films are still in my possession and I have now converted them onto digital format where my brother and sisters can look back on them and have a good laugh.

Those early days pollinated my interest in the subject and it has remained with me all my life. I now have a number of digital cameras of varying quality and I choose the model I need according to what I am aiming at taking photographs of. For instance, if I am out travelling I will use a light bodied camera or for studio work I'l rely on the heavier, higher quality model.

Since the late 1990's I have also been involved with image manipulation. Not heavily but similar to what I did in the darkroom, to improve the final image.

I call this one Water Boy. On holiday in Florida we visited the Disney parks and this little boy was having such fun chasing the water spouts from the floor and the wall.

My software of choice is the Serif Affinity Suite of applications, mainly Affinity Photo 2 combined with Affinity Publisher 2 for my desktop publishing interests.
